Gamma Ray Sensor / X-ray Collimator
A Veteran-Owned Small Business

Physitron can provide the following products:
  • Gamma Ray Sensor
Physitron developed, built and tested a gamma ray telescope to detect and identify radioactive material. Originally intended for aircraft installation to detect and characterize dust clouds produced by a nuclear explosion, the instrument was also used for treaty verification and nonproliferation applications.
  • X-Ray Collimator
Physitron engineers developed several types of x-ray optics for use in collecting and/or collimating soft x-rays. Applications for these optics included nuclear effects testing, instrumentation development, x-ray lithography, and others.

For nuclear effects testing, the x-ray collimator was designed to enhance underground nuclear environments in the 1-10 keV region. After cessation of UGT activities, the x-ray optics were applied to above ground nuclear testing to increase the soft x-ray flux and for use as debris mitigation from flash x-ray sources.
